Watery Wednesday - Taylor's Mistake, NZ

My apologies for not visiting many blogs over the last week or so. Unfortunately I've been battling some type of bug :-( I seem to be on the mend, so I'll be catching up over the next couple of days..

Haven't had the opportunity to get out and take many photos, however my daughter, Christina, in New Zealand sent me some that she took recently, so I'm using some of those...

And no, sadly, the photos of NZ do not mean I'm back home ..... I'm still here in the US..

(Click on any photo to enlarge)

These were taken a couple of days ago at Taylor's Mistake, just out of Christchurch, or so I believe.

Taylor's Mistake was named after the Captain Taylor of the US ship Vulga, who thought the entrance to the bay was the entrance to Lyttleton Harbour :-)

Even on a wintry NZ day, it still makes for a beautiful view out to sea, from the cliffs above.

I sometimes wonder if views like this, was what Thomas Bracken was thinking about when he wrote the lines 'May our mountains ever be ... Freedom's ramparts to the sea' as part of NZ's National Anthem, 'God Defend New Zealand'.

My grandson, Xavier, having fun in a tide pool on the beach..

Another grandson, Logan, practicing his art work. :-)

I leave you with 'God Defend New Zealand.' The water scenes in this video, have me wishing that I and my camera, were back there, walking those shores. ... so beautiful. :-) The anthem is sung first in Maori and then in English.

Have a great week, all :-)

I've wanted to visit New Zealand since I found the LOTR movie was set there.
The video was wonderful!
I love Christina's images - tell her they are beautiful.
Hope you'll be feeling all well soon.
My post is here: Carletta’s Captures.

My father told med that New Zealand is a wonderful country - he was there in his youth. And now I know he was correct! Loved the video, so many beautiful and magnificent mountains falling down into the ocean! Reminds me a bit of the west coast of Norway.

And great shots from your daughter!

This very good except I prefer the real all English version. I wonder how to get this for my blog. it doesn't seem to copy, maybe I would have to go to you tube to get it?
Some of our best scenery is in here.

Beautiful scenery. Wish I could be there too - I grew up in NZ. Although on second thoughts I'd possibly find it a bit cold now after getting used to Queensland.

Nice scenery, but it looks even colder than our winter in Australia.

So glad to hear about the job. Who knows? Maybe short term will become long term. :-) Either way, it's wonderful news!

What a wonderful series of images. Spending so much time in the desert, I am finding a primal hunger for oceans. Perhaps I could join this meme and see what happens :)

Thanks for visiting my blog and entering the quiz [even though you have scored the dreaded "hat" for last week:) ]

Hope you're feeling 100% very soon! I've had the busiest work month which kept me from my usual blogging activities.

But I have some spare time now, so I'm visiting my favorite haunts :)

I've been wanting to get back to NZ and this post just amplifies that desire. Not to mention all the TV adverts that Australia have been airing for "winter escapes" in NZ!!

The english language is not my main language, yet I could fully understand it utilizing the google translator. Tremendous publish, keep these things coming! Say thanks!
