Skywatch Friday - The Changing Sky
Our skies, here in Northern Nevada, have been interesting the last couple of days...
The mornings have been starting out with brilliant blue skies, and a few wisps of white clouds..
By the afternoon, the thunderclouds have rolled in and the heavens have opened..
This particular downpour was preceded by a sound on the roof like an approaching freight train and then the noise of a couple of hundred young voices screaming in unison, as they fled the playground...
Not much sympathy from us adults ...'Oh for heavens sake, stop the drama ! The rain isn't going to make you melt!' :-)
The following morning, the puddles make for interesting photo opportunities...
It's made reading blogs a bit of a challenge, as we have had the computer of a bit due to the lightening strikes..
Have a great weekend, all !!
Go to SKYWATCH for views of the sky from all over the world !

Wow! It's really pouring in that second photo. Great series of photos.
Wow thats a handful of rain. But as the saying goes....there's always sunshine after the rain. Love your last photo.
See you got a bit of everything Your puddle photo's are real pieces of art
you have interesting days, weather wise. lovely photos.
Our weather has been a lot like that too. Sunny mornings, cloudy afternoons, and most likely at least a little rain, or wind today. Love the puddlequin reflection.
Great selection of photos
Great pictures, my fav. is the last one!!! very well done!!!
Greatings from the Netherlands
we have almost the same weather over here, Karen! I love that paddy reflection. :)
Happy week-end! Thanks for visiting my entry.
Wow great pictures ! ! !
I love the last one !
Gr.
P-TER
Great shots and text.
Thanks.
Nice shots. Good series.
I like the pouring rain photo. Perfect excuse to spend whole day at home!
Reassuring to see some bright blue sky, even if it rained later. There's always tomorrow morning!
I'm glad I stumbled on your blog, for several reasons. One is that my grandmother's side of the family became Nevadans after leaving Canada. My great aunt even wrote a book on Nevada's governors. I love this part of the country (having been born down 395 in Lone Pine, Calif.), and enjoy seeing other people love it, too.
If you make it down to the Owens Valley, you might see some similarity with some of the landscapes in LOTR. I've often thought that moving to New Zealand would be like moving home.
Thanks for the fun blog and the pictures that make me homesick.
Great photos... love the puddle reflection!
Great Photographs !!Amazing Blog..
Hi Karen, thank you for your visit and comment.SWF.
I am so pleased that you googled Asperatus.
I was bowledover by the clouds shown in the paper.
Love your skies sunny and rain filled. My answer when out in the rain is I do not shrink.
Love the reflections in your last picture, a canvas every where.
Have a good weekend.
Wonderful photos Karen. That reflection shot was really great but I enjoyed them all.
Kia Ora,
Thank you for visiting my site. Have you been in US long?
Your film camera, what kind is it? My friend once remarked that our kids would have no idea what negatives are. I won't go back to a camera that I need to go to the chemist to develop. My digital camera is just great when I can take as many or as few photos and down load then.
Your blue building in the rain, is it a school building? Looks like one here. We don't like the rain bell at play time or lunch. The students get so restless they can't get out to play.
Cheers,
Ann :) a kiwi by choice.
I like the way you commented Check or tick. When I was in Canada, i couldn't get used to period when I have been taught it was full stop.
Great attitude about the weather,
Love the puddle shot.
I love the reflection in that last shot!
Great photo of the falling rain, and the reflections in a puddle, both very good. And yes we humans don't melt, but we just don't like being rained upon.
Nice weather, I love it when the heavens open with a real summer storm.
wow teh blue sky looks very lovely here..sad to say the middle picture is our weather ..it's raining men!!
I never had a chance to visit Reno during my vacation in the US and staying most of the time in Las Vegas..have a great weekend!
The first one is so serene. I love the capture of the rain in the second and again - that puddle is cool!
Thanks for visiting my sunset shot!
Wonderful photo series! I'm glad you got rain ... wish WE'D get some here in So Cal!
Hugs and blessings,
Neat photos. Love the blue sky and then the pouring rain. Wow! that's a lotta rain. The sky shot in the puddle is really a neat idea.
Beautiful and diverse photos Karen!
I have one just like the first one you put up - good thing I did not put it up for this past Friday...
Great minds think alike ;)
Art starts with refining the ability to see. You are good at seeing, and you are so good at capturing the moment!
gorgeous images!
Looks like if the sky opened and throw buckets of water down on you ! Beautiful pictures !
The weather has been a lot of the same in Florida. The running joke is 'if it's raining, just wait 10 minutes.'
I really like the puddle shot, the reflection is so clear.
Very very entertaining skywatch blogging Karen. The photos and the story. Greatly interesting! Thanks for visiting my skywatch blog.
Very nice. These are like paintings. I enjoy your work.
It's really weird how one moment the sky is all beautiful and next thing the storm clouds roll in and BOOM, thunder and lightning and rain!
I love that reflection in the puddle... that's really neat.
I really like the way you have captured the rain pouring down, that you are able to see the single drops.
Thank you for welcoming me to Skywatch! :)
Very cool puddle picture! It took me a minute to figure out what I was looking for. And then I decided to actually read what you had written! ;)
That truly is an awesome puddle shot thanks for visiting and leaving such fun comments-- I looked around your blog - i like you style:)
Great bunch of shots! I love the rain! :-)
Beautiful shots.. I esp like your last shot of the building reflected in the puddle. Wonderful! And thanks for stopping by my blog and commenting also. :)
Beautiful shots and a good post.
I enjoyed that last one - it is fun what one can get that way!
Very good sequence of photographs! I very much like the second one with the rain.
Very nice. I especially like the reflection.
Love the puddle shot Cool!
Great pictures. My fav. is the last one.
I love the reflection of sky !!!

love the reflection one the most, but all are nicely done.:)
Now that's what I call rain! I love your puddle reflection photo.
Janice.
hi karen, thanks for letting us follow your weather on friday. seems it was a world-wide event thanks to skywatch!
Your days sound oddly like my days... weird.
Great shots. I really like that reflection. Interesting how the weather is in different places. Here it's the opposite. We get the "June gloom" - cloudy and overcast in the morning, looking like it could rain and then it clears up and gets hot later in the day.
Beautiful blue sky and green trees in the first picture. I really love the rainy picture and puddle picture too, they are awesome!
